Around 2009, I started streaming audio, first with a Logitech Squeezebox Duet and later upgraded to a Touch. The Logitech Media Server I had loaded onto my Synology DS207+ NAS. Furthermore, in 2019, I built a replacement for my Squeezebox Touch streamer using a Raspberry Pi. The device has served me well, but there are a couple of annoyances, so the time came to upgrade.
The buttons on top will work once I figure out why piCorePlayer doesn’t start squeezelite if more than one button is enabled with SqueezeButtonPi.
Since the introduction of the Raspberry Pi 4B, the HDMI configuration has changed and is continually being developed. This has resulted in a simple piCorePlayer configuration becoming a lot more complicated.
This i2s sound card was designed before the Raspberry Pi 40-pin HAT standard.
Here is my new project.
It was born purely as a hobby and to test my skill to do something like this.
I built the case with laser-cut clear acrylic glass to allow a view of all the wonderful technology inside. The player contains a RPi Zero WH, Hifiberry Zero, 2.2 inch none-touchable display and two rotary encoders.
I had struggled a bit with the rotary encoders to find the right GPIOs and parameters in the script.

I want to share my new project with you.
The housing is made of a material mix similar to my last 2 projects. Aluminum for the frontpanel and lasercut acrylic glass for the case. The red colored acrylic glass harmonizes very well with the anodized aluminum.
The Waveshare Display is great. It has a very wide horizontal and vertical viewing angle with nice colors and with pCP it works out of the box. The size is the same as the Squeezebox Touch.
The RPi is connected to the DAC board via I2S. When I connected it, and set the audio output in SqueezeLite it worked first time!

I’m not covering pCP basics, like Wifi setup (multiply documented already). But I will cover general purpose information revealed in this thread that I couldn’t easily find via Web search.

CamillaDSP is a flexible digital signal processing engine. It supports real-time audio processing including basic equalization, room correction, loudness compensation, custom crossovers and a lot more.
The easiest way to install it on piCorePlayer is to use the installation script from piCoreCDSP.
